Capel Classic Car Show - report

Date: 21 August 2010
Details:

The club had a stand at the event with about twelve cars turning up, the gazebo erected, and umbrellas at the ready! The weather on the day consisted of drizzle, heavy drizzle and dryer patches (with some optimistic brighter spells). Once our gazebo was up we had high amusement as the Porsche owners club gazebo decided to show off and somersault over. They then came over to ours to see how the guy ropes worked!

There were many cars of a wide variety of makes, models and conditions. Additionally there were bikes, both classic, recent and custom. A few cars were for sale, ranging from two Morris Minors for £695 and £1,800 respectively, and at the other end an E-type Jaguar for £25,000. Interestingly there was a bright yellow Trabant offered at £1,600 and a red rubber bumper roadster offered at £2,500 - but the amount of rust on this would have put me off.

In our own camp we had bacon rolls cooked by Ian, Peter and Diana, on equipment kindly loaned by Peter and Diana. Delicious and desirable on such a poor day.

It was also Peter's birthday and he was surprised with a chocolate cake and candles by Diana and Angie, which was shared around.
